Crock Pot Country-Style Spare Ribs Recipe

We love making spare ribs here at our home and we often make them using our crock pot or slow cooker. Here is one of our favorite spare rib recipes to make that I got from my great aunt a few years ago. I just love simple recipes like this!

Crock Pot Country Spare Ribs

2 1/2 to 3 lbs. spareribs (pork or beef)
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1 (1 lb) can sauerkraut, drained
1 apple, cored & diced
1 tbsp. granulated or brown sugar

Cut spareribs into serving-size pieces. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Place on rack in baking pan. Brown in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, turn and brown on other side for 15 more minutes. Pour off drippings. Spoon sauerkraut into slow cooker pot. Top with apple, sprinkle sugar over the apple and put the ribs on top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until meat is tender and done. Makes 4 servings.

Spareribs used to be one of my favorite foods until I found out the calories LOL I no longer eat them but this recipe sounds delicious.
