Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars Recipe

If you like peanut butter cups, I think you will love this recipe! They are super easy to make and taste great! All of the kids and adults in our family just love them and we make them pretty often for them to enjoy.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars Recipe

1/4 cup vegetable shortening
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 medium eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp. water

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 9" square baking pan. Combine the shortening, peanut butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Add the flour and mix well. Spread the batter in your baking pan. Bake for 40 minutes or until center tests done. Remove from oven and let cool.

Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler with water or in the microwave. Spread the melted chocolate on top of the baked bars. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Cut into bars.
