Delicious Pumpkin Pecan Dessert Cake Recipe

I love baking during the fall season and around the holidays and one of the cakes that I like to bake this time of year is a moist and delicious Pumpkin Pecan Cake. I got this recipe about 15 years ago from a neighbor lady who was around 70 years old at the time. She told me that she had been making this recipe for over 20 years! It is a great cake to make for Thanksgiving dessert instead of the traditional pumpkin pie!

Pumpkin Pecan Dessert Cake Recipe

5 large eggs, well beaten
1 cup granulated sugar
1 (14 ounce) can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 (29 ounce) can of pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Yellow or White Cake Mix
2 teaspoons butter
1/2 cup of pecans, chopped
Whipped Cream

Beat the large eggs, granulated sugar, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin, vanilla, salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg together until blended. Pour into a greased 9x13" baking pan. Sprinkle approximately 2 1/2 cups of the cake mix over the top. Sliver the butter pats thinly and place evenly on top. Sprinkle the top with the chopped pecans. Bake at 300 degrees for 60 minutes or until done. Serve with whipped cream topping.
