Delicious Homemade Doughnut Muffins Recipe

I love making a variety of muffin recipes for my family to enjoy and this vintage homemade doughnut muffins recipe is one of our absolute favorites! My family would eat these every week if I would bake them that often!

Homemade Doughnut Muffins Recipe

1 1/2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
melted butter
3 tablespoons of granulated sugar + 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (mixed together)

In a large mixing bowl cream together the shortening and granulated sugar. Add the large egg; beat well. In another bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and ground nutmeg; add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture in the first bowl.

Fill lightly greased (or lined) muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 20-23 minutes or until done. Remove and let them cool for 10 minutes. While they are still warm you want to dip the tops of the muffins into melted butter and then roll the muffin tops into your cinnamon sugar mixture. These are delicious served warm! Enjoy your Donut Muffins!
