Hodgson Mill Summer Pastabilities Recipe Contest + Pasta Recipe

Today I would like to introduce you to the foodie company called Hodgson Mill who makes a wide variety of whole wheat pasta. The company has been in business since 1882 and is a family-owned business. All of the pasta products that Hodgson Mill produces are wholesome, naturally healthy with no artificial preservatives, additives or colors.

The company asked me to review their whole wheat pasta and to come up with an original pasta salad recipe. I have never tried whole wheat pasta before so I was super excited to try it and to experiment with it.

For the review I decided to try the Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Angel Hair Pasta which I used to make my Heavenly Garden Pasta Salad. This pasta is rich in whole grain and you need to incorporate more whole grains into your diet to help reduce your risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer. The pasta is all-natural, cholesterol-free and contains no Trans fat.

Here is my recipe on what I made with the pasta that they sent to me.
Heavenly Angel Garden Pasta Salad Recipe

8 oz. uncooked Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Angel Hair Pasta
8 oz. Italian Salad Dressing
2 Medium Tomatoes, chopped
2 Medium Cucumbers, chopped
1 Large Green Pepper, chopped
¼ cup Onion, chopped
¼ cup Pepperoni Slices, quartered or halved
¾ teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon celery seed
½ cup Cheddar Cheese, Shredded

Cook the Whole Wheat Angel Hair Pasta in water until done; drain water. Run pasta under cold tap water for 4 minutes while letting it sit in a strainer. Pour pasta in a large salad bowl. Gently stir in the 8 oz. Italian Salad Dressing. Cover bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Remove bowl from refrigerator and toss in the chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, green pepper, onion and pepperoni slices. Sprinkle salt, ground black pepper and celery seed on top, gently stir to combine. Sprinkle ½ cup Cheddar Cheese on top. Place lid back onto the bowl and refrigerate for 4 hours before serving.

Note: You can substitute the Cheddar Cheese with Mozzarella Cheese.

After my pasta salad was prepared I decided to serve it at our local family picnic that was held over the weekend. I normally make my recipe with regular angel hair pasta so I was anxious to see if my family would like it made with the whole wheat pasta. Well, I am happy to report that they absolutely loved it! Matter of fact, they gobbled it all up and I was left with no leftovers to bring back home.

I have 2 other types of Hodgson Mill Whole Wheat Pasta here and I am looking forward to the weekend when I can whip up something else so we can try those too. The fact of the matter is this...we love this pasta and it's good for us too! I will definitely be purchasing pasta from this company again! yeah!!!
