Homemade Strawberry Dessert Cake Recipe

I love making this homemade Strawberry Dessert Cake recipe during the spring and summer months when strawberries are plentiful and in-season here in PA. It is really easy to make since it utilizes a box of white cake mix as it's base.

Strawberry Dessert Cake Recipe

Cake:

1 box white cake mix
2 (10 ounce) bags frozen strawberry slices, thawed

Topping:

1 box vanilla instant pudding mix
1 cup cold milk
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
1 pint of fresh strawberries, sliced

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease the bottom of a 13x9" baking pan. Follow the directions on the box of white cake mix and prepare and bake the cake according to box directions. Let cool to room temperature before applying the topping.

Poke holes 1" apart in the top of the baked cake using the handle of a spoon. Place the thawed strawberries into a blender container and puree them until semi-smooth. Spoon pureed strawberries on top of the cake.

In a large mixing bowl, combine together the vanilla instant pudding mix and milk. Fold in the whipping cream until ingredients are combined. Spread this topping over top of your cake. Slice up some fresh strawberries and place them on top as a garnish on the cake. Store cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
