Decorating Our Home for the Holidays

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we have been busy decorating our home for the Christmas holiday. Just in the past week, my husband has put some lights outside and around our lamp pole, but now we need to decorate the inside.

This year we are doing a blue, white and silver color scheme with snowman and snowflake accents. I want everything to coordinate together since we will be hosting a holiday party for around 35 guests! We really want our new home to look inviting and really festive for our holiday guests.

Since this is our first holiday decorating our brand new house, we didn't realize how many holiday lights we would really need. For the past two days, we have been making a list and decided that we need to buy some blue mini lights and some white mini lights for inside our home.

I then want to take those mini lights and run them around the two pine wreaths and the topiary that I just purchased at our local home store last week. I decided to go with mini lights because regular sized holiday lights are just too big for the new wreaths and topiary that I just bought.

I might go out and buy a 2 foot or 3 foot mini pine tree and place that in the corner of our dining room where we will be serving our guests. For that smaller tree, I am going to use blue and white mini lights on that too. I want to get the ones where I can make them light up "solid" or "twinkle", depending on my mood.

I love decorating for the holidays and this year it will be even more special since we will be spending our first Christmas in our new house! Yeah! Have any of you put up your holiday lights yet? Are you doing the traditional red, white and green color scheme or do you decorate for the holidays in more unique colors?
