Easy Pan-Fried Flounder Recipe

Last week our local grocery store was running a big sale on Flounder so we picked up a few pounds. I decided to make an easy pan-fried flounder recipe that I got from my mother-in-law a few years ago. If you want to cut down on the fishy taste, place your flounder filets in a bowl of cold water with a little salt. Let them sit in the water for 3 to 5 minutes and then rinse under cool tap water.

Easy Pan-Fried Flounder Recipe

6 skinless flounder filets
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 to 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon parsley

Place butter and vegetable oil into a large frying pan and melt butter over medium to high heat...reduce heat to medium. In a medium sized mixing bowl combine together the all-purpose flour, salt, ground black pepper and parsley. Drudge the moistened flounder filets through the flour mixture and place them into the hot frying pan with butter/oil mixture.

Simmer each side of the fish for approximately 3 minutes...maybe a little longer depending on how thick your fillets are. The outside of the filets should be lightly golden brown and the centers should be done. Be careful to not over-cook your fish or it will get crunchy. Remove from pan and place on a plate lined with paper towels to help absorb some of the butter & oil mixture. Serve immediately.
