Best of Bridge Home Preserving Cookbook

For the past 20 years I have been preserving food for my family. Canning food is something that was taught to me when I first reached adulthood by my deceased grandmother and is something that I really enjoy doing. Along with that, I am really into gardening and growing my own fruits and vegetables.

Today I want to introduce you to a fabulous book that I received for review. It is called the "Best of Bridge Home Preserving" and is published by Robert Rose. ISBN: 97800778804826. Here is some additional information about the book.

Preserving good is modern, practical and really quite simple, especially when you're using tried and true recipes from Best of Bridge. As with all their other much-loved cookbooks, these are easy recipes with gourmet results.

The user-friendly recipes will appeal to novice & experienced canners alike. There's a wealth of information, including basic equipment lists, food safety requirements & produce purchasing charts. Easy-to-understand detailed processing instructions provide all the information you need before beginning any canning project.

The outstanding variety of recipes covers everything from jams, marmalade's, conserves and jellies to chutneys, pickles, relishes, salsas and more. There is something for everyone in this cookbook!

Example of Recipes:

* Sour Cherry Jam
* Blueberry Jam
* Kiwi, Pineapple and Orange Jam
* Raspberry and Plum Jam
* Carrot and Pineapple Marmalade
* Blackberry Plum Jelly
* Red and Green Pepper Jelly
* Apple Rum Raisin Conserve
* Pineapple, Mango and Papaya Conserve
* Pear Butter
* Pineapple Mint Chutney
* Bread and Butter Pickles
* Black Bean Tomato Salsa
* Plus many more!

My Thoughts: I own at least a dozen home preserving cookbooks and use them often. With that said, this cookbook has quickly became my favorite! It has a ring spine so it will lay flat on your counter-top when you are preparing a recipe. I love that! There are 303 pages and many of the recipes include mouth-watering photographs.

The recipes and directions are really easy to understand and I love that there are hints & tips also sprinkled throughout the book. I really appreciated the tips on how to use vinegar in preserves when canning.

So far I have tried 3 recipes and had absolutely perfect results! My favorite to-date is the Blackberry Plum Jelly with the Sour Cherry Jam coming in second. Once my raspberries come into season (late July) I will be trying out the Raspberry and Plum Jam recipe next.

Overall, I am super impressed with this cookbook and it is now my "go to" home canning cookbook! All of the information is easy-to-follow and very up-to-date! Fantastic!
